This is our last update to you regarding our month-long fundraiser for the victims of quake/tsunami in Japan. It has been such rewarding experience for us to be showered with so many kind wishes and support from you!
We just wanted to let you know how we did. On 4/8, we raised $122.80 in donations, $201.51 in bake sale, and $73 in raffle, which brings the total to $397.31, of which we sent along the cash amount of $382.31 to UNICEF via the web. In total, we raised $3,556.98... Going over our set goal of $3,000!
Congratulations to our raffle winners:
Basket #1: The Casa family
Basket #2: Gery McCally
Basket #3: “Rayna” Ticket #:092328/092329/092330 (this winner has not returned our call; if no response by tomorrow, we will pick out another winner)
Basket #4: Seijiro Yoshihara
Special thank you goes to Principal Rossi for her support, the Dallin PTO for letting us use their outlet to spread the words and to let us use their hot pots, all you wonderful bakers who contributed (we should credit Myrna Snyder Di Cesare for her major contribution of over 200 pieces of edible work of art — cherry blossom/flower cupcakes!), and all the generous donors who contributed in various ways. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
One last piece of information... We (the Dallin for Japan Crew) have been invited by the Arlington-Nagaokakyo Sister City Committee (best known for their Cherry Blossom Fest at Ottoson) to participate in the 4/25 Town Meeting to welcome the Nagaokakyo students who will be visiting Arlington for their exchange program. Dallin, along with other organizations, will be given town-wide recognition for the various fundraising efforts. We hope you will tune into the local TV, as we’ve been told it will be broadcasted.
In conclusion, we hope you and your kids made connections to Japan in some way, and continue to do so by keeping them in your thoughts from time to time.
